The Sovereignty of God

He Reigns

God is king. God’s sovereignty is the exercise of his rule as sovereign or king over his creation. Some might simplify the sovereignty of God by defining it as control. This works because control implies authority because God’s creation of all things and governing of all things makes him the owner of all things which thus gives him the right to rule all things.

Nathan Pitchford, in his excellent resource on the doctrines of grace lists out several helpful references on the sovereignty of God and I leave you with them:

God is Sovereign Exo 15:18; 1Chr 29:11-12; 2Chr 20:6; Psa 22:28

  4. Job 33:12-13; Isa 29:16; Isa 45:9-10; Mat 20:1-16; Rom 9:19-24

I pray that you see the value in the understanding of God’s sovereignty and that you find comfort in it as you live before him this week.
