The Glory of God in the Calling of Sinners (October 6, 2011)

What do I do with this? It is important to understand how salvation comes about, but how does this specifically apply to your life and to my life as we walk with Christ?

  1. The calling of God affects my identity: Romans 1:6-7; 1 John 3:1 “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
  2. The calling of God produces humility & thanksgiving: 1 Timothy 1:12-17 illustrates Paul’s thanksgiving and humility for the grace and mercy offered him in salvation.
  3. The calling of God produces holiness: Ephesians 4:1 “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called; 1 Thessalonians 4:7 “For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.” I have said it before: Who you are proves what you believe. The way you live demonstrates your true confession.
