Theological Reality (1-4)

God has intended for happiness to abound when we seek, know, love and obey God.

  1. Blessed [fortunate, happy] are those whose way [way of life, conduct] is blameless [without blemish], who walk (habitually) in the law [Torah] of the Lord. This is a lifestyle of obedience based in God’s Word.
  2. Blessed [fortunate, happy] are those who keep [search, guard] his testimonies, who seek him [diligently search] with their whole heart [mind, affections, will], A lifestyle of obedience is based in God’s word because when one seeks after God in His word, you will find Him and upon finding him, you will love him. Jeremiah 29:13; Ezekiel 36:26-27. The Ezekiel passage leads us into the next verse, where we discover that one who has arrived at the heart of God will obey God.
  3. Who also do no wrong [wickedness], but walk (habitually) in His ways. In John 14:15-17 Jesus echoes this principle and then lets the disciples in on a little secret: you can’t do this on your own. You can neither love Christ the way you should, nor can you obey him as you ought without the Spirit!
  4. You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently [very much kept]. Obedience is the way happiness in biblical Christianity comes about. God has ordained it to be this way!
