Psalm 10 (February 17, 2011)

Psalm 10

This is one of the most important phrases you will ever read: WHAT IS TRUE ABOUT GOD IS TRUE ABOUT GOD NO MATTER HOW I FEEL. Our emotions are fickle. Our feelings are swayed by our circumstances and we long to find stability in something solid and real. We look at the culture around us at it seems that God is distant and disengaged and we become dismayed and depressed. This is where theology must bring transformation to the heart and mind of the Christian.

The Lord is king forever and ever;

That’s it. The Lord is king. He reigns, without contest and without opposition. None can oppose him, and even if it doesn’t look like it, he is on the throne, exercising his authority over his creation which includes your life.

Hope in the Psalms

Hebrews 2 agrees loudly with this Psalm:

Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:8-9 ESV)

It is true that we don’t see everything in subjection to Jesus, all we see is Jesus, our savior and king. Even if we cannot see his reign, we know that he reigns over us. The great news of the Scripture is that even if we can’t see it, our God reigns. He is the king.
