Psalm 8 (February 8, 2011)

Psalm 8

Continue reading this glorious Psalm:

[2] Out of the mouth of babes and infants, (the speech of infants) you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. (God is defeating his enemies with the unintelligible baby talk) Calvin powerfully said that God doesn’t need an eloquent defender. The babbling of infants shouts down all the intelligent objections to God by atheists and doubters. God doesn t need anyone to defend him.

Consider the stories of  Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19); Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5). God defends himself and he chooses to use things that the world sees as foolish to destroy the wisdom of the  wise (1 Corinthians 1).

Hope in the Psalms

Find joy today in the reality that God is a warrior who wins with people the world sees as weak. If you feel weak today, as if you have nothing to contribute, rejoice in the knowledge that God works powerfully in and through people like you.
