Psalm 1 (January 18, 2011)

Psalm 1

In verse two of this Psalm, we now see the formula for behavior of the blessed.

1. Delight is in the Torah of the Lord: “Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day” (Psalm 119:97 ESV).

2. Meditates on Torah day and night: This shows how the Psalmist loves the Scriptures. The implication is that he reads the Scriptures all the time. “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation” (1 Peter 2:2).

Hope in the Psalms

Do you delight in God’s Word? Do you spend time reading Scripture? If you lack the desire to study the Scriptures, pray and ask God to give you a longing for his Word, that you might be blessed as the Psalmist describes those who delight in the Scriptures are blessed.
